The loss of action seemed to be negated by good use of cards and rolling doubles to get the free turn. It caught me out I'd planned on a robot basically having one action on the first turn. But he changed to a striker, run and picked up the ball, doubled, run to the goal, used a card for a free action, shot on goal +coaching dice - 4pts before I new what hit me. I thought I learnt my lesson and BAM it happened again, luckily he missed and the he did it again to win. I was too focused on using threat zones to ensure when I hit someone they stayed down/Died that I didnt have enough cover for the 3/4pt zone. The real challenge is that there is no perfect defence - with only 6 players you have to leave a gap somewhere!

I think holding the ball could be a good ploy for us marauders as a steal double doesn't allow a free action to the striker it just gives then the ball - so I may try holding the ball for longer just to deny opponents the chance to pick up with a double - yes 6 man team makes things very different for def I think holding someone constantly on the 4 point spot may be a good plan

In my game against the Monkeys they had the home advantage and from the start I found the brothers a handful with them trying to swarm my players to allow Buzzcut 1 of two Star players taken for the match to step and hammer my team thankfully that fell through and instead I was able to hammer the other starplayer Pateorian into a early grave.
Picking up the ball Mark played balls shatters and here is where we all need to be careful as I had just qualified for a free turn with my striker and that meant I was able to retrieve the ball and shortly there after score a four pointer though I did struggle as swarms of monkeys start pouring onto the pitch and he ref just seemed to get tied of me calling foul and never sent of any of the monkeys for more than a turn at max.
I was able to keep Buzzcot out of the first half of the match by either knock him down or keeping two players by him at all time to make almost impossible for him to get back up.
Once he was up he started to look dangerous and quickly killed my second guard. but he actually did this by failing and so was sent of for three turns what meant he could come back for the final turn. else where it was a scramble of players being unable to pickup the ball on the monkey side and on mine when trying to pick or dash to get to the ball failing miserably. Then I had a shot on goal what could have ended it all but it went wide and scattered literally passed most of the players.
Then a spare monkey from the hoard was able to steal the ball and run up the field to score a point.
I then grabbed the ball and started to batter monkeys out of the way for another shot but it all went wrong and there was a few turns of scrambling for the ball until at the end of the last rush on the last action I was able to score a landslide victory.
After game Review: I found pounding on individual monkeys easy the only issue being there where so many as we stood by their far score zone that the reinforcements just poured out of their box and straight into the action meaning I often found zones blocked even with the guards working overtime.
I left a Jack to guard the 4pt zone and now think I should have rushed her forward to help out after killing the only striker.
I also forgot at one point my plan to keep Buzzcot covered by two people and suddenly found myself with a very angry Marauder and believe me a strength 2 Guard with his skill set is not to be taken lightly.
I under estimated the effectiveness of the monkeys now that Mark has gained some experience and it cost me and for Mark I would say keep experimenting with what you can do with those jacks and you will get there.
I need to be more aggressive with my jacks but remember not topush everyone to the far end of my opponents zone to help score once or it leaves me open to them returning the favour next turn.
After the game when doing the paper work I end up with a rating of 181 and buying in a new guard rather than rezing the old one but when I got home I realised I had made a mistake and changed it so I brought the guard back what actually had the effect in all of lowering my rating down to 176 what means I have had a slow crawl hopefully allowing others to catch up and have games on a more even keel from now on.
I would say a good use of cards is crucial and both me and Mark used thm to good effect through out the game.

Sounds like a heavy game and maybe the score didn't reflect the actions in the end.

Just glad it is over just, one more game against the Brothers and then I have survived the monkey threat. Thought I surged ahead on rating it has actually made me 1) more of a target and 2) meant a struggle as others show up with giants and star players. I think I need to find a team near my own rating next just to see the difference.
