In direct comparison to Alex my force is but a fledgling start. I must admit I know nothing about the fluff of the hordes worlds and although I have purchased the TrollBloods book I simply love the minis they have in this faction. So I've started adding paint to minis with the first rough base coat (don't worry there will be many more layers to come) Hopefully having this blog will help me progress to building and playing the game soon (even if its a bit slower then some of you guys)

Quick question - when it comes to designing forces I have like 11 points so far. But is there a structure as I have been flicking through the book and see I have: Light war beasts Heavy war beasts Units Unit add ons Solo Is there a particular structure I need to stick too or is it just anything with the points I can stick in as will plan up what I would enjoy painting/getting so I have an aim

Dan you can follow a tier list which are all in the faction army book (codex) or if you fancy doing your own thing thats fine also. just look on the card under stat's you will have a box that says field allowance c=character so you can only have 1 u= universal (i think) can take as many as you have pts for and a number is how many you can have in a army. hope that helps and remember not to get too many warbeasts as you have to control them unless you have a caster that is great at doing that.

How do I know how well my caster can control things? I presume then units don't need controlling like war beasts therefore maybe a unit after 15 points is a worthy investment?

dan the easiest way to sort this out is to get them trollbloods on the table. But just as a rule of thumb 1 heavy 2 light or 2 heavy works best for my casters, atm. some casters can run more, maybe alex will add to this as he is the troll king atm.

Most units are self sufficient so that's not a bad way to go

Starting to look really good there.
pMadrak is one of my favourite trollblood warlocks, and if you stick with him you'll definitely want to look into sone infantry to best make use of his feat. Champions are a very good choice.
If you fancy a heavy beast, the quintessential Dire Troll Mauler will serve you well. The rage animus is excellent and also works with the thrown weapons you have already.

Yep - I like the look of some of the unit figures like Pygmy & Kreiel. One question, with the 'themed forces' do you get the bonuses in regular games or is it on special agreement with your opponent as I was getting some of those figs so seems to fit in with my plans!

You can use theme forces as and when you like. Some are good, some less so, and there are a fair few in No Quarter magazine.
For the battlebox warlock you have, pMadrak, his is okay... it's not particularly restrictive but it will cost you a lot as Kriel Warriors are expensive to buy in full units with full weapon and unit attachments (which the theme force is all about).
Also, whilst Pyg Bushwhackers are okay (I love the models), they're not amazing for the points - so having two units (for the third tier bonus) is a bit off putting.
Might be worth trying out and getting stuff you like before getting into theme forces - then see what you have and which Warlocks it would fit in with.

Right so all colour schemes are on - just need a little bit of that paint pot and the models are done except the basing which I will sort early Feb - torn between a moss rock theme or a Autumn rock theme. Hmmm. Models are just amazing - going to get my next unit in Feb too boost game sizes upwards I think although I only want to field fully painted minis so will prob be slower then other JML players
