So rumours abound are saying we have a new edition just around the corner. My gut feeling is this will be more like a 6.5. With it just a month away what do you think needs correcting or you would love to see here? For me I think the rule set is pretty balanced at present but would love to see tweaks to: Consolidate INTO combat - in my conversations people have told me this would be bad but it stops you über combat unit being useless when it needs to charge a screen of drones while 1'' behind it sits a wall of tanks & gun line this would force People to split up and move about hopefully brining more tactical movement into the game. Lord of War rules (maybe make it a % rather then FoC) So let the wish listing begin

Overwatch - if you fire overwatch, you don't get to fire again in your subsequent turn. At the moment, pretty much every Tau army gets double the amount of shooty, what with their supporting fire hi jinks.
Couldn't agree more on the LoW % idea. Allowing them in games is great, as long as the game is big enough to warrant the use of a SH.
Maybe unit coherency could be expanded?

Please just sort out sweeping advance. Its been crap for so many editions. I charge your 20 man unit with 3 models, win by 1 and you fail your ld test... Its not good, unless you're fearless or a space marine. Just sort it out please.
Randomly generated Psychic powers. Why doesn't an ancient and all-seeing Farseer know what powers he has before a battle? Fix this please, then it can become tactical again.
6th ed suffers from too much confusion and imbalance across armies tbh. It very quickly spiralled into the 'abuse' edition as some armies can really exploit aspects of the game that others can't and its only gotten worse with each codex/expansion. Too many armies/units with special rules that ignore core rules. Changes for the sake of changes in a lot of cases.
They crippled assault armies/units in their bid to make it 'the shooting game' by adding overwatch and random charge distance. Assaulting from vehicles doesn't make a lot of sense and we have a really confused set of rules now. Assault vehicles work but are rare/expensive and dark eldar and ork players avoid these problems by being open topped. Some armies don't even have them. The rest just have to go through too much hassle to make them useful over so few turns now, even if they haven't moved. Restricting them to only 6" movement when embarking or disembarking is not useful and there was no real problem in 3rd/4th/5th and now you spend an extra turn being shot at. GW were clearly bothered by how much impact CC had on the game.
The only things I would keep as is would be snapfiring heavy weapons, hammer of wrath, removing closest models/ models in range as casualties and look out sir. Overwatch should carry a penalty in the next shooting phase, like no shooting or can only snapfire again to be consistent with other defensive abilities like evade and intercept, but otherwise ok. I would prefer to see snapfiring as a modifier to BS rather than 6's hit, as it currently affects the better shooters more than the chod that can't hit a barn with a banjo anyway!
Consolidating into combat went after 4th edition as some of the really good combat characters/units could just roll all the way through entire battle lines once they got to the first unit!! A certain swooping hawk exarch build will always hold a place in my heart:) If it returned it may not be so bad now as overwatch, wonky vehicle rules and random charge distance could have a say. I don't know though, a black mace daemon prince or similar could be interesting.
I'd like to see flyers rebalanced. more skyfire availability, altered snapfire or something similar when targetting them. Currently its just crap, as better elite armies, often with fewer shots like marines/eldar, suffer whilst orks and tyranids barely notice the difference. Flyers have evade built in, get superior movement and can fire more weapons than other vehicles, why is that not enough? Again, some armies can exploit this more than others.
Challenges can be useful but can also be easily exploited. Ask chaos marine players about compulsory challenges!
Allies seemed ok to start with but battle brothers has become ridiculous now. Man, I could go on and on...
5th edition had its issues but for me 6th just added to them. The change from 3rd to 4th was good but 6th wasn't what it could have been bearing in mind how long we put up with 5th edition. It all feels stagnant to us long standing players.
My hope is that it can go back to being a more tactical game, as currently its just not working. We know GW is a miniatures company and a business blah blah blah, but surely it would be better to have great rules for great models rather than shoddy rules for great models?
Just my opinion
