What is 1066 Wargaming
1066 War Gaming Club is an active group of gaming enthusiasts from table top war games to board games our group is diverse in the games we enjoy and play. We have set up a local club to help like-minded people to have the opportunity to game on a regular basis and to play the games they enjoy.
The club takes place on a weekly basis at a local venue that has free parking on site and a cheap bar (Don’t mix the two). It is held on every Thursday night from 7pm (Check our forums & Facebook to be sure there is no exceptions) until 11pm. We ask that people who attend and play in a game pay £3, however your first night is free to so you can see what we are doing. If you just want to come down, have some drinks and chat about your hobbies it is absolutely free we simply ask that you leave room for any planned games.
We are a Non-Profit Society so ALL money collected is reinvested back into the club to pay for rent, Storage, Table Terrain, Additional Board Games, Battle matts & Prize Support (Such as our Xmas Raffles). We are looking to build a long term club of gamers in the area so we are looking to continue reinvesting into games that our groups are playing in and what our club want to do. We currently average around 30 people per week playing a variety of games.
To date we have used the funds to support new board games, finance our gaming boards and build themed tables (Winter, 40k Ruins, Desert, Hamlet, Temple and many more planned). We have purchased a space mat for 40k and a large Xmas prize draw. We are also actively running different game campaigns for the group and are always looking for more people willing to run campaigns or single day/night events. If the group shows interest in any game systems we are happy to support this please speak to any Committee Member.
Currently we have gamers that play Warhammer 40k, Warmachine & Horde, Historicals, Boardgames, Dreadball, X-wing, Drop Zone Commander, Malifaux, Guild Ball, Man-O-War, Warhammer Fantasy and many more games.
We use this forums to both promote the Hobbies we love, plan games & campaigns and to connect with like minded gamers. If you ever want to discuss club matters or want to know more then please joining the forums and say hello or check out or Face Book page at www.facebook.com/groups/134516583421036/

Code of Conduct
Opening Times: The club operates from 7pm to 11pm weekly on Thursday night. The Venue will not open until 7pm and we must have exited the venue by 11pm so please ensure we keep to our times. Any nights the club is not open will be communicated on our Face Book & Forums well ahead of time.
Cost of Playing: The club currently charges £3 per person who plays a game. The first time you attend is free and on subsequent attendance we will give you a membership number so we can keep track of who has attended the club. Please note we are a Non Profit Group and all money taken is put back into the club for terrain, games, rent & storage the committee members do not take any money from the club.
Preparing the Gaming Areas: From 7pm each week we ask our members to help set up the playing areas. With the whole group actively putting up tables and fetching terrain boxes from the storage areas it usually takes 5-10mins to get all twelve 6x4 gaming tables and our four 4x4 tables set out as well as terrain boxes. At the end of the evening we ask if our members can also help to tidy up which generally begins from 10:15 onwards (as many games are finished by then) so we can exit the venue by 11pm at the latest.
Using Club Terrain: The club terrain has both been donated by the founders of the club and also purchased with club funds. Due to this we ask that members please take care using the terrain during a gaming evening. We understand that usual wear and tear will happen but please let us know of any accidents and breakages. Also I am afraid we cannot lend out terrain at present as it is an important part of the club to maintain good looking tables for our group to enjoy the games they are playing. Our terrain is also set out into 1 or 2 boxes per table (Most are labelled) if our members can please keep terrain from each table in the relevant boxes it ensures a quick set up and tidy up each night. Addtionally if members can assist packing boxes and tables away when games are done this helps speed up the whole set up & break down each night giving us more gaming time.
Supporting our Venue: West St Leonards Community Association and Social Club (www.facebook.com/pages/West-St-Leonards-Community-Association-and-Social-Club/327338927356768) has been 1066 Warming’s home since its inception in 2013. We would hope that our members can support our venue by purchasing a drink or snack food from the bar, they offer a variety of cold & hot drinks (alcoholic and none alcoholic) and snack foods. Helping to support our venue helps to ensure we can maintain the club for the long term. PLEASE DO NOT consume your own food and drinks to the premises, if there are particular bar snacks or drinks you would like please let a committee member know and we can talk to the veune owners. Please respect the bar staff and the times the club opens & closes.
Organising Games: Many of the games in our hobby are often detailed and have very different ways of playing the, from competitive lists to narrative driven lists. Not to mention how lists are comprised and what sort of game you will play. We encourage our gamers to have a discussion with your opponent prior to games to understand what you are both looking for from a game. This organisation can be done down at the club or through our Forums & Face Book page, planning ahead of time to ensure you get games is the best way to have a fun night at the club. If you unfortunately have planned a game with someone and cannot attend please notify the person as soon as possible to avoid wasted journeys for people.
As an example 40k currently has a multitude of different mission types, Stronghold, Lords or War, Apocalypse, Cities of Death, Kill Team or regular FoC games. Due to this it is best to talk to your opponent prior to the game to understand what you will both be playing so you can both have fun from what you play.
Have Fun: Probably the most important part of our Club Conduct is to have fun. We can often get wrapped up in the game and passionate about the games we play and the companies that we buy our games from. Please remember everyone has a difference in opinion so please bear this in mind when playing games at the club. If you are playing a game system you do not like then please look around at what else the club has to offer, demo games and example play happen on a very regular basis please just keep an eye on our planned games and events and remember we are all here to have fun and play games!
