Those are great, the black looks really crisp what grey are you using for the line highlight - also where did you get those heads from? Necrons?

What I will say about the black is that I much preferred Chaos Black to Abaddon Black! Abaddon is no where near as nice to use. To highlight it I first mixed Abaddon with Mechanicus standard grey 50/50 and used that, then did the edge highlight with a watery Mechanicus standard grey.
The heads are from the Chaplain, from the Reclusiam Command Squad set, it has taken me a long time to get the 9 I needed as they dont pop up on ebay or bits sites very often. The sergeants head comes from the forge world Ivanus Enkomi model and I finally went with that as I was getting miffed waiting for a 10th of the Reclusiam heads to appear.

Yeah, I sense a certain amount of denial in your post... Subconsciously you are itching to leave the confines of "The Corner" and rejoin the superior 40k community! On a side note Carl at the independent Characters liked these LotD models so much he asked if he could put the pics up on their facebook page link

My next project is going to be my Grav Centurions, that I have been sitting on since they were released. After that I will do the last of the LotD squad and then maybe finish that Techmarine... Maybe?

Can't wait to see the centurions - the more I see of this model the better I like them. Next year I must start my SM army that has been in boxes for far too long (just I suck at painting black which features in the chapter colours)

I have my eye on Marine Malevolent due to a few factors: 1) there fluff is cool 2) I think I can speed pray the yellow.
But I'm worried about the black at present so haven't started them yet!

I think I would be more worried about painting the yellow! Its a colour I have no affinity for painting (yellow and white to be fair)! You best get cracking on whatever it is you have currently on the painting table so you can get to it! I want to see them now!

Got a nice method for white, but yellow is a pain without an airbrush

Marines Malevolent...not knowing much about them. I'm torn between doing Dark Angels (first ever army, live the fluff) and Raven Guard (one of our kittens is called Corax)

I was going to go for a two level spray can yellow then blend with a soft brown wash... That's the plan at least!

That sounds like a good plan! A well done yellow looks great. I would like an allied imperial fist contingent but that much yellow is daunting. Tell you what, you do your Marine Malevolent, then I can steal your method!

Haha - on the IC thread there is a guy doing yellow Orks that are insanely fast to paint an look great he builds up fr an almost desert brown and uses glazes/washes to give it pop.
I'm hoping to copy something similar
