Hi all, been watching some batreps and everybody seems to do run/charge orders where some of a unit runs and others charge, looked online and people say its legit but how? i thought run and charge were two seperate orders? looking on page 26 of mini rulebook under run it says 'a trooper must recieve a run or charge order to run during its normal movement' im guessing this is what means you can run/charge just seems odd am i just being stupid?

It can be read both ways. It can be read as two separate orders - Run or Charge, or one single order in which troopers can take either action as part of the order. If you read through the text it makes it clear. Under "run" it states a trooper must receive a run or charge order to run. Under "charge" it states a trooper must receive a run or charge order to charge.

It's a 'run/charge' order. All models must do one or the other. Those that charge must do so successfully (end in mêlée range of their chosen charge target) or their activation ends. You move all models on a one by one basis, regardless of whether they chose to run ir charge, and then any charging models will make their initial mêlée atracks etc.
I think it was Dom the other week who asked if you can use special (*) attacks as charge attacks - yes you can (note the power attacks are an exception), and where units have multiple models charging with access to special attacks, each model can activate differently.
For example a unit of Mechthralls receives a run/charge order; any number can run and any number can charge, of those that charge each has the option to make its two printed mêlée attacks or its special attack.

Excellent, however - a word of warning: battlecollege is a very useful resource for beginners to get an overview of almost everything in Warmachine & Hordes but it is a wiki and does contain incorrect and out of date info.
The best way to learn is to get your models on the table and talk things through with your opponent as you play.
