Hello All
I'm Kris, Neil Bates put me on to you guys and I've been watching on Facebook for a while. I used to wargame regularly years ago but haven't played for a long time. I'm not really into fantasy stuff these days. I quite like the look of bolt action and I've got about 1200 points of early war French FOW army in the loft but I was wondering if you guys ever play any large scale historical war games as that's where my real interest lies.

Hi Greenie, great to hear from you. Good question on the gaming! We have a lot of different gamers that come down every week from board gamers to table top and from quick light games to complex long games. In terms of FoW a couple of our members have got armies and have played a few games do there are players out there but it's not something that is being played on a regular basis at the club (normally when a couple of people start though it snow balls into bigger groups). We have a number of new an not so new Bolt Action players who are playing pretty regular down the club now (last night saw one of the guys GM'ing a game for 4 new players to bolt action and it looks like they all really enjoyed it - I myself have an Italian army painted & ready to go). Then in terms of historical it's another yes. We have a group of 4/5 players who most weeks play historical games of 5-10mm scale. They have played from (this is where I need to apologies as it's not my field so I will probably butcher this) - Roman times, Crusade era. The last two weeks they have played US civil war (confederates won both clashes). They also dip (pun fully intended) into Dystopian wars & Man O War. Lastly it is worth mentioning the last open day (where we hire the club for a full day) they set up a 8x6 board and played a huge 10mm WWI game which took them from 10am till nearly 7pm, not for the faint hearted. I know Jerone is on these forums now and then but I can try and put you in touch with them if any of these areas interest you. Or let me know more detail on the games your looking for

Hey hey ! Jerome here. Welcome! yep we do have a small core of games we play that we can squeeze into an evening. As we are constrained but what we can do by time we play lots of DBM 15mm early medievial or ancient, 6mm ACW using a set of house rules derived from a home gown set I found on the internet, Distopian Wars Naval, Man o War , 6mm WW1 or 15mm Modern or Flames of War if we can squeeze it in! there are 4 of us historical playes so if you come down ask either for Myself Graham, Mike or Rodger. You will be most welcome!
