So has anyone actually picked up either of these books and what impressions have you got from it so far?
Will the club be seeing any of these games in the near future so I can dust off my stompa or build some crazy terrain?

I have them on iPad and I'm not sure about them. I don't think they are balanced in normal games for many armies but not played using them. Not sure when I'd want to give up 888 points on a lord of war, but happy to give some games trying out the rules at some point after Easter realistically with all else going on

The wall of martyrs trenches are nice and cheap, as are void shields and could be fun. Vengence battry is also not too bad. The punisher cannon at heavy 20 is nice but comes with the vengence firestorm redoubt or the weapon battery units and is a free upgrade! 75 pts for the battery with that is nasty

That's cool - a brief flick through the Stronghold one would be good for ideas on campaigns I have the apoc book so probably have everything bar 1 page of rules and the fluff from escalation

I've got both and love them.
They are as broken as allies, which people don't seem to be that up in arms about. I think their true value will be in campaign games, where the game should be intentionally 'biased' And it means you can play with your big toys (stop sniggering) without having to organise an Apocalypse game.
