So that's right after a massively successful campaign with over 20 participating players over 9 months the fate of Vogen came down to a straight up Xenos v Imperial fight. Each army was built up from a base 1k of points and then added too as the campaign progressed.
As territories and games were owns armies swelled with the top teams at nearly 2k pints. Then just before the Apoc game teams were granted bonus points for VPs achieved and also for territories owned with some teams churning out 5k of armies. Some new reinforcements came down for the final fight where we saw the Eldar & Tau side with the imperials although a last min change saw some salamander renegades and Traitor guard join the Xenos tide.
Imperium rolled in with 31,115 points and the Xenos 34,755 points. A single table of 20x5 foot to house all the armies with 7 objectives spread across the table the fate of Vogen was going to be settled on this very day!
Before I start sharing my photos I just want to let you know I was on the Xenos right flank so I will have more pics from there but I will gather more pictures from other people and add then to the thread so let's check out the Set Up:
From right to left we had traitor guard facing ultramarines, Orks facing Tau, Orks Facing Black Templars, Renegade Salamders facing blood angels & Knights , Eldar facing deamons, death Korps & Wolf Titan facing Necrons, Space Wolves facing Necrons, Space wolves facing Tyranid & Tau facing Tyranid. The battle field was set
The teams were ready - the timers were in hand and turn 1 began with the Xenos!
Our statue of Vogen!
Some serious fire power came down on the imperials and many tanks were smouldering wrecks by the end of turn 1 but the counter strike and huge reserve of fliers for the Imperium was ready to strike back!
Vortexes on stompas, fire power levied on super heavy tanks but the first super heavy explosion was down to the two titans levelling a tesserac (the first of many super heavies)
Warlords meet which would be a big deal in some places but not on this field! Turn 2 sees some bitter Han to hand as the Xenos try to clear the skies with there own reinforcements targeting buildings to topple them and keeping some clear sights for the traitor guard to start pounding the middle of the field where the Imperial big boys are massing!
By turn 3 the imperials have targeted many of the Nexrons super heavies but their troops are getting dangerously close - the huge air armada is being cut down and the although the imperials right flank is pushing the left is fault wrong with 9 Superheavies bearing down on them an only two of them destroyed. The imperial centre starts focusing on the Xeno super heavies but have they ignored the demons and Necron troops surging through the middle?
But after the break the Imperial cavalry arrives with a huge horde of Space Wolves hitting the Tyranids from the side and a small tau contingent trying to take out the traitor guards tanks!
In the final turns there is little left from either team and the battle for the centre results in super heavies slinging shots at each other and Eldar holo fields keeping the imperials in the fight but with the Necrons so close they manage to blast through titans and Eldar alike!
With the final blows a single knight Templar stand firm on an objective as he is charged by a bloodthirster and two stompas
The final boards look like this:
