New to the board, been living in St Leonards since March, in Bexhill for a few years before. My flat's not fifteen minutes walk from the community center and I keep thinking every time I drive past that I must get round to dropping in one Thursday. Quite apprehensive though, since I'm Asperger and large groups of strangers scare the bejeesus out of me.
Maybe the board will ease the process. It has in the past. I played World of Warcraft online for many years and became close friends with several people I only met through the game.
I recently bought Forbidden Stars, the new 40k board game, which I've not had a chance to play yet. Would it be worth bringing along?

A lot of chatter does focus on Facebook. A few people have made 'gaming' Facebook accounts just to join the group. But there are a lot of board gamers that play in the bar area and are always friendly. If you do want to pop by you can ask after any of the committee members who can show you about

The Board games are always accepting of new players and every week people bring down board games and anyone who wants to can take part as all rules are explained on the night so newbies will have no problem.
We are always very happy to welcome new people.
You can always drop in one Thursday just to have a look around and see what it is like and have a chat. There is no pressure to play and if you then felt that you wanted to leave and come back another night that would be fine. Or if you felt happy you could join in a game.

Good to know, thankyou I'll definitely add a thursday drop in to the list of things I need to forge ahead with. Right now I'm having trouble forcing myself to leave the flat, so there's no telling how long it might take me to get there.

So, I've been trying to get myself down to the community center the past few thursdays, and it's proving even more difficult than I had anticipated. I realise it's an unusual request, but is there anyone who'd be willing to meet me shortly beforehand, maybe along the front or in the Fountain, to have a chat about the group and walk down with me? It's hard to even ask, but it would really help me a lot to know even one person before I have to deal with a whole crowd. I can pm my phone number to anyone who could help me.

I don't get down as often as I like due to work but I'm there this week if you want me and my husband to give you a lift? Or he could drop me near and I walk the rest? I normally play 40k or malifaux while he plays dnd or warma hordes.

I don't need a lift, I live just by Sussex Road, it's barely ten minutes' walk from here. If you could meet me somewhere it would be really useful. I don't know what's most convenient, depending which way you're coming from. There's the free car park on the front opposite Caves Lane, or the one by the row of shops opposite Carpet Right. Or I can walk to the car park at the community center, but that's pushing my limits. Mostly I just cannot walk inside without knowing more about what I'm going to have to deal with. It's difficult to explain.

Carpet right is probably the easiest given I know where that is, my geography is poor. Say 7:15? I know what it is like to some extent and I deal a lot as a teacher with people that find crowds and change hard.
