So to be honest I returned to GW about 2 years ago & started playing 40k quite ignorant to the history and universe of it all (I used to be a square baser & avid old world fan)
To date I have read the salamander trilogy and short stories (Marine Manevolunts kick ass). Also I am now on book 4 of the Horus Heresy. But are there any great reads other people can suggest or what are you guys reading in this world?

Gaunts ghosts novels (all) , ravenor and eisenhorn novels are excellent. Essentially any book by demski-Bowden or abnett and your on to a winner. I envy you being on book 4, I've read all of them bar the corax soulforge novella and apart from 3-4 books the heresy series is excellent. Especially when logar takes a hit from a warhound plasma cannon and Angron stands under it and holds it from crushing him. Legion is the best so far, then first heretic

The heresy stuff is pretty good, my personal favourites are Know no Fear and Prospero burns (this one actually made like the wolves), if you can get hold of them as audio books they are great to paint to! Outside of the heresy, Titanicus is good as is Cadian Blood.

I've got a load of them but can highly recommend Execution Hour and Shadow Point. Both are fleet combat led - lots of Battle Fleet Gothic but with a few sub plots to get your teeth into. I am happy to lend if you like

So you stick to authors rather then series or subject matters I heard Abnett was very good so far but that's all

Do you have a decent horde of them? Also you ever pick up any of the graphic novels they do / did?

Got a couple of the graphic novels but I prefer reading, with the odd campaign map and what have you thrown in.

I've been half tempted to check out the graphic novel to do with the Ork Ace Pilots but tbh alot of the Xeno stuff I have glanced at seems a bit wobbly and with the Heresy having so many books to plough through it may be a while!
